FAQ Search Results

Can I limit my searches to just the journals the library has?

Yes, if you use certain databases.

Most OVID databases allow you to limit your searches to either full text available online, or to local library holdings (including print journals).

On its Journal Search page, MD Consult provides a Search Option which ranks results and shows the full text results first. MD Consult covers over 50 journals and yearbooks.

It is also possible to search some databases for articles in specific journal titles that you know the library owns, such as JAMA. Commands for doing so vary according to the database; always consult with one of the reference librarians about commands and strategies.

The Electronic Help Aids has useful tips and tutorials for searching with limits.
