AISR Support for Jefferson Publishing

• Educates faculty and students about traditional and new methods of publishing and related copyright issues.
  
• Provides and promotes mechanisms for distributing results of Jefferson research, including the Jefferson Digital Commons.
  
• Influences change in publishing practices that will benefit faculty, libraries and universities.

Scott Library, a division of AISR, supports the Jefferson Digital Commons and provides regular information to faculty about publishing issues. AISR Education Services manages Jefferson Publishing for faculty-developed software. Medical Media Services provides illustrations for publication in a variety of formats, digital recording, and web conferencing.

Journal price trends are creating a crisis for academic libraries. AISR is committed to the support of alternatives to restrictive, subscription-based publication of grant-funded research.

"In a move to disseminate faculty research and scholarship more broadly, the Faculty of Arts and Sciences (FAS) voted... to give the University a worldwide license to make each faculty member’s scholarly articles available and to exercise the copyright in the articles, provided that the articles are not sold for a profit."
