FORMAL LEARNING

Did you have lectures/didactic sessions at your rotation site? How often? How long? Do you feel like they were as well organized as the lectures at Jeff?

WORK SCHEDULE

What were your hours (roughly)?

Did you get off on major holidays, or were you expected to be there (i.e. Labor Day, Thanksgiving & Friday after Thanksgiving)?

What was the call schedule? Were you able to pick your nights or trade with peers?

In the Hospital, did you feel a part of the ‘team’? Did residents/attendings appreciate you?
  • Students reported great interaction with both the residents and attending on their teams as well as a friendly environment.
How was the teaching by attendings?
  • Attendings were very approachable, and each attending had a different style with patients.

HOW TO BE A ROCK STAR

  • Get to know the nurses and techs because they can tell you about your patients as well as tell you about the most interesting patients and have some great stories.
  • Start reading early, learn psychopharmacology early in the rotation.

CANDID COMMENTS FROM STUDENTS

Pros:
  • Students were very satisfied with the rotation. The hospital was reported to be beautiful with a friendly and relaxed environment and varied patient population. Residents and attendings made students feel welcome.
Cons:
  • Students reported feeling a little lost when at Jefferson for call.
