Library Access Privileges: TJU Alumni
Alumni of Thomas Jefferson University and medical staff who completed
their residency or fellowship at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital
may use basic Library services for free.
To enter Scott Library:
- Present your blue TJU Alumni card or your certificate of completion
of residency or fellowship, along with one form of photo ID, to the
Security Officer at the 1st floor entrance to the Library.
- Register for Library services at the Circulation Window, 2nd floor
Scott Building.
- At the time of registration, you will receive either a barcode for
your blue TJU Alumni card or a Library Courtesy card.
- Present your blue TJU Alumni card or Library card whenever requesting
Library services.
If you have not received your alumni card from the TJU Alumni Office
or have misplaced your card, please contact the appropriate alumni office
for a new card (note that some replacement fees for alumni cards
may apply):

Services Included
- Access to Scott Library during regular
hours. This includes weekends, evenings and 24-hour access
to the first and fourth floors. Your blue Alumni card or Library Courtesy
card must be presented to enter the building and worn while in the
Library.
- Use of in-house Library materials and public computers.
The public computers provide MS Office products, Internet access and
use of freely accessible Web materials (on JEFFLINE's E-Resources
page or List
of All Databases).
Most databases, electronic journals and electronic books are included when you visit the Library in person. Some resources are restricted to TJU institutional use by licensing agreements and are not available to alumni; such
restricted databases include, but are not limited to,
Ovid MEDLINE, CINAHL and MICROMEDEX.
- Borrowing privileges for Scott Library's print collection,
subject to the same policies
that apply to TJU patrons.
- Discounted photocopy and laser printing rates @ 10 cents
per copy plus the cost of a copy card ($1). Photocopy machines
and laser printers are self-service, card-operated. Copy cards may
be purchased and recharged at the Circulation Window on the second
floor.
- Database searches by an Information Services librarian
($35/topic plus online fees, up to 25 searches per year). Scott Memorial
Library has access to hundreds of databases on a wide range of scholarly
and popular topics. For more information or to request a search contact

- Monthly alerting services on biomedical topics.
Fees for alerting services include a one-time set-up fee of $35 and
$6/topic for in-house databases or a negotiable rate for vendor-based
online services.
- JeffDocs
document delivery services for items owned by Scott Library
are provided for a fee of $5/item, or $10/item for fax delivery. Interlibrary
loan services are not included.
- Access to the services of Medical
Media Services at the same fees as Thomas Jefferson University
customers. The MMS department provides slides, photography,
artwork, and other biomedical communication services.
- Free Education Services workshops,
subject to availability of seats and the same no-show fees that apply
to students and faculty.
Services Excluded
- Use of the Learning Resources Centers and Open Access Labs.
- Borrowing privileges at the Learning Resources Centers.
- Interlibrary Loan Services.
- Off-campus access to Jefferson databases and full-text resources. On-campus access to selected licensed databases, electronic journals and electronic books. See

Responsibilities
You agree to follow all Library policies and are responsible for all
materials charged to their cards. Failure to comply with policies may
result in loss of Library privileges.
