Reference Desk & Reference Area
(Second Floor)

Visit the Reference Desk to ask questions and find out what materials the Library owns. Questions may be asked in person, by phone (215-503-8150), by email (Askalibrarian@jefferson.edu), by instant message (AIM or Yahoo! screenname: SMLreference; MSN screename: askalibrarian@jefferson.edu), or chat live with a librarian.

The reference staff are happy to help you with Internet and database searching, JEFFLINE access (http://jeffline.jefferson.edu), bibliographic management software questions, campus information, verification of citations and more.

JEFFLINE's online Reference section includes:

The Reference Desk
The Reference Desk
The Ready Reference Collection & Residency Program Information Catalog
The Ready Reference Collection

The ready reference print collection is adjacent to the reference desk. It is supplemented by subject guides to Internet resources (JEFFSelects) compiled by Reference staff.

The reference area also offers kiosks for Campus Key and ThomCat services, computers for Internet access and MS Office, printed help for popular resources, a display of newly acquired books for preview, print indexes for journals and study carrels.

There is no charge for dot matrix printing. The reference laser printer uses the same copy card as the photocopiers. Cards may be purchased at the Circulation Window for $1. Laser prints cost 10 cents per page [not available to general public visitors]. Please note, copy cards are non-refundable.

Reference librarians will also help to identify materials not owned by Scott Library. Jefferson participates in extensive interlibrary lending (ILL) programs with other institutions, in addition to purchasing documents from commercial vendors. TJU students receive 10 FREE document delivery requests per academic year. Other Jeffersonians are charged $5.00 per item requested for normal delivery. Learn more about document delivery services.

Academic & Instructional Support & Resources (AISR) provides workshops and seminars about the library's databases and the Internet. Check the online workshop schedule, or contact AISR Education Services directly at 215-503-2830.
