Scott Memorial Library Computer Use Policy
Computers in Scott Memorial Library are connected to the TJU Academic
and Research Network (ARN). All computers require user authentication
using a Jefferson Campus Key (assigned by Jeff-IT) or a guest pass issued
by a member of the Scott Library staff. Information Services staff can
assist new students, faculty and staff with their Campus Keys at the
2nd floor Reference Desk. Members of the public may purchase a 1-day
computer guest pass for $7 at the 2nd floor Circulation Window.
Once authenticated, users have full, unrestricted access to:
- Internet sites and Web searching
- Email
- Jefferson courseware (Pulse)
- Microsoft Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.)
Jefferson has an official policy about the use of computers, email,
and other forms of electronic communication, which applies to all students,
faculty and staff. Please
read the policy so you will be aware of your rights and obligations
as a computer user. (Note: The policy is only viewable from computers
on the campus network. If you are off campus, log
onto Pulse and choose the link to University Policies.)
Please note: Library connections are dedicated to the equipment installed. If you attempt to connect a laptop to a hardwired connection, it will disable the connection. Wireless accounts are available for laptop users and the Library is wireless-capable throughout the building.
The Library's computers are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Laptops are available for checkout from the Scott Circulation Window
-- see Learning Resources for
details.
