Reference Desk & Reference Area
(Second Floor)

Visit the Reference Desk to ask questions, do research,
and find out what materials the Library owns. Our friendly librarians are happy to respond in person, by phone (215-503-8150), by email (Askalibrarian@jefferson.edu), by instant message (AIM or Yahoo! screenname: SMLreference; MSN screename: askalibrarian@jefferson.edu), or live chat.
The reference staff are experts at helping you with Internet and database
search strategies, JEFFLINE access (http://jeffline.jefferson.edu),
bibliographic management software, campus information, verification of citations and more. During the academic year, the reference desk is open until 8 p.m. most weeknights, and some weekend hours. See our hours for the current schedule.
JEFFLINE's online self-help Reference section
includes:
The Ready Reference Collection
The ready reference print collection is adjacent to the reference
desk. Online subject
guides to Internet resources (JEFFSelects) are also available.
The reference area offers a kiosk for Campus Key management and
library catalog lookups, computers for Internet access and MS Office,
printed help for popular resources, a display of newly acquired
books for preview, print indexes for journals, and group study tables.
Dot matrix printing is free, but noisy! The 2 reference
laser printers use the same copy card as the photocopiers.
Cards may be purchased at the Circulation Window for $1. Black and white laser prints and photocopies cost 10 cents per page for Jeffersonians (25 cents per page for general visitors). Please note, copy cards are non-refundable.
Reference librarians can help you identify materials
owned by other libraries. Jefferson participates in extensive
interlibrary lending (ILL) programs with other institutions,
in addition to purchasing documents from commercial vendors.
Jefferson students receive 10 FREE document delivery requests
per academic year. Other Jeffersonians are charged $5.00
per item requested for normal delivery. Learn
more about document delivery services.
Academic & Instructional Support
& Resources (AISR) provides workshops and seminars about
the Library's databases and the Internet. Check the
