Artist's Statement
Life's simple shapes, it's complex layers. This is the inspiration
behind my oil paintings. Shapes taken out of context, abstracted,
simplified, repeated. Wrapped in enigmas. My work is intended to
communicate on multiple levels through lines, colors and shapes
that evoke mystery, and more importantly, emotion. My desire, my
passion, is for every viewer to have a deeply personal and emotional
reaction to my work. To interact with it. To be so moved as to claim
his own sequence of viewing the paintings and to group them in whichever
way best speaks to him.
--Ilaria Arpino
This exhibit was displayed at Thomas Jefferson University's Scott
Memorial Library in the winter and spring of 2004 - 2005.
