Professionalism at Jefferson Medical College
Jefferson Medical College, long understanding the importance of professionalism in Medicine, adopted its Code of Professional Conduct in 1983. In concert with the national and international renewal of interest in professionalism, Jefferson underwent an in-depth review of the Code and professionalism. The first striking expression of this interest was the adoption of a Student Honor Code in 2004. The Code of Professional Conduct underwent extensive review, and the Honor Code was expanded to include the Faculty, residents, and fellows. The Code of Professional Conduct, its name changed to the Jefferson Medical College Honor Code, was formally adopted by the Jefferson Medical College Executive Committee and the Professorial Faculty in October, 2006.
