50-year old woman, para 0, gravida 0, still menstruating, noted that her menstrual blood flow is more abundant than it used to be. During the last two periods she also noticed spotting throughout the entire cycle. She has arterial hypertension (160/100), is obese and diabetic. During the gynecologic examination a Pap smear was made and endometrial biopsy was performed. Following the diagnosis made by the pathologist she underwent hysterectomy.


Gross appearance of the uterus. Identify the lesion.


Histologic appearance of the tumor. How would you classify this tumor?

The diagnosis is adenocarcinoma.


Carcinoma of the endometirum should not be confused with endometrial polyps illustrated here.
