Evaluation - Clinical Evaluation

Clinical skills competence grades will be given on as Honors, Pass, or Fail. Students will be evaluated on the following points: professionalism, history taking skills, physical examination skills, problem solving skills, communication and interpersonal skills, and the application of knowledge.

Honors
To attain the grade of honors, the student must be present each day of the rotation and demonstrate exceptional interest and aptitude in the areas of preoperative patient evaluation, airway management, anesthesia technique, and postoperative pain management. In addition, the student must demonstrate knowledge beyond the rotationšs core material.

Pass
To attain the grade of pass, the student must participate fully in the scheduled clinical activities of the rotation, demonstrate an understanding of the core course material, and exhibit a professional demeanor.

Fail
A student will receive a failing grade if they exhibit unprofessional behavior, are unreliable, fail to demonstrate an understanding of core course material, and have more than one unexcused absence during the rotation.
