Research Buddy/Mentor Program

"Mentoring as a strategy to support
the acquisition of research concepts and skills
to improve the health of a community."
HomeMeeting ScheduleParticipantsDigital Library

The Health Fair

All students in the Health Academy class will present a health fair for the community. In preparation for this event, a team of Academy teachers will develop an interdisciplinary curriculum that will move students toward meeting the standards and cross cutting competencies as designated by the Board of Education.

Students will have the opportunity to research community needs and will select topics to research that they think will best serve the community. The class will divide into pairs or trios and work as a team to research and prepare for the fair. Students participating in the Research Buddy / Mentor Program will serve as resources for their student colleagues. The students will also have to use critical thinking and problem solving skills to define the process and procedures necessary to meet their objectives.
