Occupational Therapy

  • ABLEDATA
    Maintained for the National Institute on Disability and Rehabilitation Research, ABLEDATA is a national database of information on assistive technology and rehabilitation equipment. It lists over 23,000 products from approximately 2,600 domestic and international manufacturers and distributors.
  • Americans with Disabilities Act Home Page (ADA)
    Provides information about the nature and enforcement of the Americans with Disabilities Act, which is intended to prohibit discrimination on the basis of disability. Special sections include: status reports, technical assistance, certification, and settlement information.
  • American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA)
    Includes information about accreditation, continuing education, professional ethics and legislation. Special sections include areas for students, consumer information, and news. The AOTA and its Foundation also provide OT Search, a database of occupational therapy literature, available to Jefferson faculty, students and staff with JEFFLINE user names and passwords.
  • American Occupational Therapy Foundation (AOTF)
    The site provides information about the goals and objectives of the foundation, a listing of available scholarships and research grants, an interactive forum for occupational therapy researchers, professional news and events. Back issues of the Occupational Therapy Journal of Research are searchable. The AOTF and AOTA also provide OT Search, a database of occupational therapy literature, available to Jefferson faculty, students and staff with JEFFLINE user names and passwords.
  • Center for Applied Special Technology (CAST)
    The home page for CAST, a not-for-profit organization whose mission is to expand opportunities for individuals with disabilities through use of innovative computer technology, provides information about and access to CAST programs and resources. Includes BOBBY, a service which analyzes the accessibility of Web pages.

    Includes:

    Bibliographic records for materials in the American Occupation Therapy Foundation’s library: AOTA serial and monographic publications, non-AOTA journals about occupational therapy, and selected relevant articles from other specialty journals.

  • Association of Academic Physiatrists (AAP)
    Includes information about the professional practice of physiatry, information about membership in the association, listings of publications, and notices of professional conference. A career section features employment opportunities. GME information is also provided, including lists of unfilled residency positions.
  • American Physical Therapy Association (APTA)
    Provides an overview of the PT profession, an APTA resource catalog, and access to highlights from the current issue of PT Magazine, as well as links to conference notices, news and current events. Also includes professional ethics, legislation, research and public relations.
  • Physician and Sportsmedicine Online
    Includes the current issue of the journal, searchable full text of back issues, a resources center and professional directory, and a forum for earning Category I CME credits and CEUs on-line.
  • PEDro, Physiotherapy Evidence Database
    Covering randomised trials, systematic reviews and clinical practice guidelines in physiotherapy. Produced by the Centre for Evidence-Based Physiotherapy in Australia.
  • PTCentral
    Aimed at both clinicians and health care consumers, PTCentral includes links to educational materials and a regional on-line guide to related associations, hospitals, outpatient clinics, and rehabilitation services. Resources include the Hosford Muscle Tables: a comprehensive and descriptive directory of each muscle of the human body.

Rehabilitation Medicine

  • American Academy of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (AAPM&R)
    Includes topical information for member physicians, on-line CME resources, as well as a staff directory and a news section.
  • American Pain Association (APA)
    As a multi-disciplinary educational and scientific organization dedicated to serving people in pain, the APA provides resources for professional practice and patient education, as well as membership information, publications and news.
  • American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA)
    Includes separate resource areas for professionals, students and health care consumers.
  • Association of Rehabilitation Nurses (ARN)
    Aimed at providers of pediatric, geriatric, long-term, sub-acute, and home health care, the ARN site includes membership information and sections for education and certification, professional resources, and discussion.
  • National Center for Medical Rehabilitation Research (NCMRR)
    The mission of the NCMRR is to foster development of scientific knowledge needed to enhance the health, productivity, independence, and quality of life for persons with disabilities. The site provides information about related programs, research projects and available funding opportunities.
