Diseases and Pathology

  • Atlas of Diseases of the Kidneys: High Resolution Graphics (University of Colorado)
    These are kidney disease images from the book The Schrier Atlas of Diseases of the Kidney. Most of the images are pathology slides.
  • Big Picture Book of Viruses (Tulane University)
    This site includes microscopic and illustrated images of many viruses. It lists the viruses by both individual viruses and virus families.
  • Color Atlas of Medical Diseases (eCure Me)
    This site provides illustrations and photographs of numerous medical disorders. Descriptions of the disorders and a "Symptom Game" are also available.
  • Cyanobacterial Image Gallery (Purdue University)
    This site is designed to help field technicians identify cyanobacteria. Microscopic still images are available.
  • Digestive Diseases Center Clinical Atlases (Medical University of South Carolina)
    Two atlases are available: ERCP (endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography) and EUS (endoscopic ultrasound).
  • Digital Atlas of Ophthalmology (New York Eye & Ear Infirmary)
    This is a searchable atlas of eye anatomy and ophthalmologic disorders.
  • DPDx: Laboratory Identification of Parasites of Public Health Concern (CDC)
    This database provides information on the identification of human parasites. It includes a library of pathology slides and illustrations of parasite life cycles.
  • ICTVdB - Picture Gallery (NLM)
    This is an alphabetic list of electronic microscopic images and diagrams of viruses.
  • Image Library (Oregon Dept. Human Services)
    This is the department's Public Health Laboratory library of bacterial and parasitic pathology images.
  • Internet Pathology Laboratory for Medical Education (Florida State University)
    This site has pathology slides and gross anatomy photographs for general and systematic pathology. Pathology teaching methods are also available such as tutorials and cases of the week. Staining techniques are also included.
  • Knowledge Hub (USCAP)
    The United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology (USCAP) publishes educational material organized by 20 organ systems/subspecialties of pathology gleaned from its scientific conferences.
  • Parasite Image Library (CDC)
    This site includes microscopic images, life cycle diagrams, and epidemiology maps of parasitic organisms.
  • PEIR Digital Library (University of Alabama)
    The Pathology Education Instructional Resource (PIER) offers over 40,000 images for use in medical education. The database is produced by the Department of Pathology at UAB using images from UAB and external resources, such as Slice of Life.
  • Virus World (University of Wisconsin-Madison)
    Illustration and animated videos of many viruses.
