Replacement Copies
Books
Missing titles from the general monograph, Reference and Reserve collections
are not automatically replaced. A decision is made by the Director of
Collection Management Librarian after a title has been missing for at
least six months, unless it is required reading for a course. Decisions
to replace are made on a case-by-case basis depending on subject matter,
publication currency, usage, and price. New editions are preferred if
available. Books missing from the Leisure Reading Collection are not replaced.
No attempt will be made to replace out-of-print material through purchase,
but permission to borrow the book from another library and photocopy it
may be sought from the publisher.
Journals
Missing print journal issues or volumes are replaced, either through
exchange with other libraries or purchase, whenever possible to prevent
gaps in the Library's holdings unless they are available online.
