About Your JeffMail Email
Account
Every student at Thomas Jefferson University receives a personal JeffMail
account for use while enrolled. University faculty and staff receive JeffMail
accounts when hired. The JeffMail service is hosted by Pulse, the campus
intranet. Logon
via Pulse, JEFFLINE, or other campus services.
Get Started with JeffMail
- Your email ADDRESS will be in the format firstname.lastname@jefferson.edu.
Sometimes your middle initial is included to differentiate
between people with the same first and last names, such as Samuel.D.Gross
and Samuel.R.Gross. The address is what other people will
use to send you email.
- Use your Campus Key to logon to your JeffMail account. The
Campus Key is in the format xxx123, where 'xxx' is your initials
(an 'x' may appear as your middle initial), and '123' is an assigned
sequence number, e.g., sdg001.
- Find out your Campus Key
- Your initial email password is your Social Security Number
(e.g., 123456789).

- Logon to
your JeffMail account and choose the links to Options,
then Password, and enter your new password. Any change will
be effective immediately.
- Students: Confirm your entry in the Student White Pages.
Note this directory is available only via Pulse, the campus intranet.
- Logon to Pulse with
your Campus Key and the same password you use for email.
- Choose Directory: Student Address & Phone from the QuickLinks
box.
- Search for your own name.
- Faculty & Staff: Confirm your entry in the University
Email Directory.
Additional Notes:
- The JeffMail Web client includes a Contacts section (aka address book) for storing nicknames and group distribution lists.
- Students may store up to 60MB of messages on the JeffMail Server. Faculty and staff may store up to 200MB.
- Whitelist and blacklist features are available.
- JeffMail supports secure (encrypted) email.
- If you prefer to use another email account, such as an AOL or Yahoo
account, you may forward a copy of all your Jefferson email messages
to that account.
- Logon to your account and choose Options, then Forwarding.
- Type the address to which your
mail should be sent and check the Yes box to activate it.
- Choose whether to check the box to delete your messages once
forwarded. Otherwise, JeffMail does not erase them from your account.
- Click Apply

- Where may I read my email on campus?
- JeffMail is available at workstations on all four floors of the
library. Additional workstations are located in Jefferson Alumni Hall
(room 311 computer lab and on the first floor by the escalator), and
in the Learning Resource Centers (3rd floor Scott and 13th floor Edison).
JeffMail's Web version is also available from any computer that has
an Internet connection: http://jeffmail.jefferson.edu.
- How do I access my email from home?
- If you live off campus, you must subscribe to an Internet Service
Provider. From home you may use either the JeffMail Web interface
at http://jeffmail.jefferson.edu or install an email client software
such as Outlook.
- I need live, in-person help with email or other computer programs
--someone to stand beside me and guide me through the steps.
- Visit the Learning Resources Center, Scott Library room 306. Staff
there will be pleased to assist you.
- My email account name is spelled incorrectly or is about to change.
My SSN doesn't seem to work. Who can help?
- Contact the Technical Assistance Center at 215-955-7975.
- My student directory entry or student white pages information
is incorrect, or I would like some of it to be private. Who can help?
- You will need to request this type of change in person, at the registrar's
office, G-22 Curtis.
- How can I forward my email from a previous account (e.g., Yahoo,
AOL, other university account) to my Jefferson account?
- Contact your other email provider to find out how to do that. For
most email systems, you can send a query via email to the system's
postmaster -- 'postmaster@domain' (e.g., postmaster@att.net).
- Does the University provide students with Internet access?
- Yes, but with limits. The University only provides Internet access
from campus locations, such as dorms or the library. For access from
off campus, you will need to subscribe to an Internet Service Provider.
