JMC Joins National Educational Medical School Consortium (NEMSC)

Jefferson has been invited to join the National Educational Medical School Consortium (NEMSC). The purpose of the Consortium is to encourage the collaborative and cooperative development, refinement, assessment and sharing of computer based educational materials using a common platform and common authoring systems.

Membership in the Consortium is limited to LCME accredited Medical Schools with a demonstrated commitment to the development of computer based materials for use in undergraduate and/or graduate medical education. The charter members of NEMSC include the medical schools of: Cornell, Dartmouth, Georgetown, Johns Hopkins, Harvard, Mt. Sinai, NYU, Rochester, Syracuse, University of Pennsylvania, and Yale. After several years the charter members have decided to open membership to Jefferson Medical College and the School of Medicine of Stanford University.

Jefferson has contributed five computer-based learning programs to the Consortium to date. Over fifty programs are now available from NEMSC for use in Jefferson's medical curriculum. Jefferson faculty may contact Dr. Rodney Murray (Director of Academic Computing and Instructional Technology, ext. 4965, Email: MURRAY@JEFLIN.TJU.EDU) for more information on the use of these programs. For more information on NEMSC membership contact Dr. Albert Shar (Director of Information Technology, University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine and President of NEMSC, 215-898-9754, Email: SHAR@MSCF.MED.UPENN.EDU).
