Vincent Ferretti is Scott Memorial Library's interlibrary loan borrowing technician. Vincent locates articles and monographs from lending libraries for Jefferson students, faculty and hospital staff. Vincent also handles document delivery for corporate clients; interlibrary loan billing and statistics; ordering supplies for collection management; troubleshooting office equipment and computer software updates.

Interests & Expertise

Contact Vincent for assistance with

  • borrowing materials from other libraries,
  • accessing materials from the Scott Library's collection,
  • checking on the status of a current request, or
  • questions about ILLiad registration and placing requests.

Vincent works mainly with PubMed, LocatorPlus, WorldCat and databases licensed to the Scott Library such as OVID and Scopus, but also utilizes Google Scholar for article references and hard to locate monographs.

Vincent also assists with software installation and upgrades. Over the years, he has experienced practically every aspect of the library environment, which gives him a deep appreciation for the excellent service that is so characteristic of the AISR staff.

Background & Training

Vincent came to the Scott Memorial Library with a Bachelor's degree in Liberal Arts from Temple University. While observing the rapid pace of technological innovation at the library, he decided to return to school part-time, earning an Associate's degree in Computer Science at Community College of Philadelphia. An eclectic mix of the humanities and technical training has served him well in his job responsibilities at the library.

Personal Interests

When not at work, Vincent enjoys web and graphic design, digital art, computer gaming, cooking and reading. Vincent's favorite authors include Dostoyevsky, Balzac and Thomas Mann, but he also enjoys reading the science fiction novels of Kim Stanley Robinson, Jeffrey A. Carver, Robert J. Sawyer, Alistair Reynolds and Peter F. Hamilton.

Never one to let his mind idle, Vincent regularly takes online tutorials to learn new skills and sharpen old ones; he also builds his own computers to meet the requirements of the graphics-intensive applications he works with, which include Adobe's Photoshop and Illustrator, Blender 3D modeling and animation software and e-on software's Vue 6 Esprit. Vincent's favorite music these days includes Trance, Techno, Ambient and Chill Lounge.
