JEFFLINE Vital Signs

JEFFLINE use continues to grow through the roof, with no leveling off in sight. While eager predictions about the demise of the printed word have proven false, electronic information is increasingly important in every aspect of our lives. Just look at what has been happening with JEFFLINE:

JEFFLINE's homepage is now accessed well over 100,000 times per month. Last month, JEFFLINE's server sent over 13 billion bytes of information to users around the world. In fact, we receive substantial use from Asian and European countries.

JEFFLINE's most popular pages?
  • Email
  • Library databases
  • Internet search engines
  • The Education menu
  • Jefferson Medical College
  • College of Health Professions

As more and more TJU faculty, students and staff discover the full text offerings on JEFFLINE, those numbers are going up, as well. Since the OVID full text resources were first introduced in October 1997, use has climbed to over 6000 articles accessed per month. Other full text resources, such as MD Consult, show similar patterns.

It's rare any service can avoid growing pains under such a curve. AISR is working hard to extend licenses for heavily-used resources, and to find new ways of providing access to full text. If you experience the dreaded "license exceeded" message, please be patient and try again a little later.

But most of all, be aware that we study these trends and target AISR's development resources to the areas of greatest need.
