The Jefferson Digital Commons provides space for all Jefferson departments to publish original journals, newsletters, and departmental series. The Center for Applied Research on Aging and Health (CARAH) is the latest to take advantage of the FREE service, with its recent launch of its newsletter, CenterPieces, using Commons technology.
The Commons offers a customizable appearance, the ability to accept new article submissions online, and indexing both by major Internet search engines (like Google) and within the site. Readers may subscribe to email alerts for notification of new issues, and you can review and manage the mailing list of subscribers that results, sending custom messages to your readers.
CenterPieces joins the Health Policy Newsletter and Value-Based Purchasing, both products of the Department of Health Policy. The Health Policy Newsletter converted several years’ worth of back issues into the Commons, with the reward that in 2006 readers requested almost 7,000 article downloads. The Commons makes it easy to track the use of material on an article-by-article basis, letting you know what topics have been popular.
Next in line: look for the Jefferson Journal of Psychiatry to be released this winter. The Department of Psychiatry and Human Behavior is working on converting their peer-reviewed journal to electronic format.
Commons space and on-going AISR staff support for publications is FREE to Jefferson departments, centers and other units. There’s no catch. If you have something you want to publish to the world and are curious about how the Commons might work for you, please contact Ann Koopman, JEFFLINE Editor, at 215-503-0441 or ann.koopman@jefferson.edu.
