Q: I know access to a certain online title is free, but JEFFLINE still doesn't offer a link in the Cyber Café or THOMCAT. Why not?
A: Sometimes publishers offer free access for a limited time, and then require a paid subscription. Scott Library doesn't link to offers we know will expire.
Sometimes an online edition is available, but may only be accessed using a single user ID and password, and licensing prohibits us from building the password into a link. In such cases, it is not feasible for the library to distribute and regulate the ID/password combination. We continue to work with publishers to try to overcome these limitations.
Sometimes a journal is free to individual subscribers, but charges a fee to libraries, or has very unusual licensing requirements which we cannot honor.
Sometimes, we just don't know about that journal yet. Please help to build the electronic collection by sending in your requests and suggestions.
