OVID Searching Tip

Retrieving Articles Using Unique Identifier Numbers

A quick and easy way to retrieve a single article is by searching the unique identifier for the article. These numbers appear below the citation in your search results list and it may be easier to record a number, rather the full citation, for later retrieval.

    MI is the MEDLINE Identifier.

    UI is the Unique Identifier (used in PubMed).

      Both are displayed in OVID:
