The Browsing Corner
Welcome to the Browsing Corner! Each month there will be reviews of the books in our BROWSING ROOM COLLECTION, which is located on the first floor of the library.

The reviews will consist of five different genres: Fiction, non-fiction, biography, romance and health/fitness awareness.

There will also be an alternating spotlight section each month, featuring an author or a book from a different genre. (i.e. suspense, history, sci-fi, etc.)

FICTION
Robards, Karen
To Trust a Stranger

The hunters become the hunted in this suspenseful novel. Julie knows that her husband is cheating, but trying to prove it turns into more than she bargained for.

Other titles by this author include: Paradise County and Ghost Moon.
Our collection currently holds both titles.

NON-FICTION
Ellison, Brooke & Jean
Miracles Happen: One Mother, One Daughter, One Journey

Brooke Ellison, a quadriplegic since the seventh grade, tells the story of her life since her accident. This heartwarming story talks about the struggles and accomplishment of Brooke's lifelong dream, attending Harvard University.

This is the first book for this author.

ROMANCE
Pitcher, Robin
Starting Over

Starting a new life after a failed 18-year marriage proved to be the least of Liz's troubles. Living a somewhat quiet life with her son, and father, on the family's farm turns tumultuous when financial troubles arise. The complications are doubled when an attractive older man, and her ex-husband enter the picture.

Another title by this author is An Ocean Apart.

HEALTH /FITNESS AWARENESS
Shapiro, Howard M.
Dr. Shapiro's Picture Perfect Weight Loss: 30-Day Plan

The title says it all! This plan features more than one hundred new substitutions and food comparisons. This book also offers step-by-step methods to shed weight by exercise and positive outlooks.

Another title by this author is Dr. Shapiro's Picture Perfect Weight Loss.

AUTOBIOGRAPHY
Douglas, Kirk
My Stroke of Luck

After suffering a painful stroke in 1995, the legendary actor had to adapt to a new role, survivor. Humor and good friends kept him from giving into depression and despair. This charming book is filled with memories, love and one man's battle to regain the life that made him a legend.

SUSPENSE
Reardon, Joyce
The Diary of Ellen Rimbauer: My Life at Rose Red

This intriguing novel begins with the marriage of the young socialite to a Seattle industrialist. Through the years, Ellen kept a diary of her life and her estate, Rose Red. Fears of her sexuality and marriage, plus constant disappearances within the house surround this novel. Certain people believed the house contained some supernatural force that contributed to the disappearances; others believed that force was Ellen herself.

Stephen King made this book into a television miniseries, which will air sometime in February 2002.
