Browsing the Shelves Using THOMCAT
Did you know that you can browse the library collection by using THOMCAT? For example, you can browse the shelves to see what Scott Library owns regarding accreditation of hospitals. How would you proceed to browse the shelves?
  1. Enter THOMCAT from the library tab from the JEFFLINE homepage (http://jeffline.tju.edu/).
  2. Perform an exact search on accreditation.
  3. Notice that many of the resources that deal with accreditation begin with the call numbers WX.
  4. Click on the Call No. Browse tab.
  5. Enter WX in the call number field.
  6. Click on Browse Shelves.
All the records that appear will begin with the call number WX. Since the library follows the National Library of Medicine classification scheme, all books dealing with accreditation will appear under the category of hospitals and other health facilities (WX).

THOMCAT allows you to electronically browse the shelves.
