Academic Information Services and Research (AISR) will hold a PDA luncheon for the Family Medicine Residents on October 18, 2001. The luncheon will be held on the second floor of the Scott Memorial Library in room 200B and is scheduled from 12-1pm.
Some of you may be wondering, "What is a PDA and why do residents need to know about it?"
PDA stands for Personal Digital Assistant. These devices are handheld computers that are small enough to fit into your pocket. However, they are large enough (in digital terms 8 MB) to hold your calendar, to do list, and your address book. So now you're probably wondering, "These sound like tools for sales and business persons. Why medical residents?"
The Jefferson clinical community has a great many resources available right now to bring to the patient's bedside using a PDA. During the PDA luncheon our residents will learn what resources are currently available, how to access them and how to share them with colleagues. It is important that our residents become comfortable using PDAs because they will surely be using these devices in the future.
Any other Jeffersonians that are interested in currently available PDA resources should contact AISR's Education Division to arrange for a workshop.
