Gary Kaplan, MSLIS

Gary Kaplan is a Senior Librarian in the Information Services department. He provides reference services at the Information Desk, via Ask A Librarian and by appointment.

Interests & Expertise

Gary is a member of the JEFFLINE Security team, the Jefferson Book Club, and chairs the JEFFLINE Advisory Working Group. Contact him for support with:

• resolution of Campus Key and other JEFFLINE access issues,
• off-campus access to JEFFLINE resources,
• RefWorks and other bibliographic citation management software,

• library systems to identify books and journal articles, and
• new technologies to locate, manage and share information.

Background & Training

Before coming to Jefferson in 2001, Gary worked at the Avery Architectural & Fine Arts Library at Columbia University, where he received a bachelor's degree in Philosophy. He earned his Master of Science degree in Library & Information Science at Drexel University.

Professional Activities

Gary is the Chair of the Philadelphia Regional Chapter of the Medical Library Association (MLA).

Personal Interests

Gary is an avid bike and transit commuter and supporter of the Bicycle Coalition of Greater Philadelphia and the Delaware Valley Association of Rail Passengers. Complete the streets!
